2nd January 2019

Last breakfast here at the egg cooking station –

.

.

Then out for a stroll before our flight to Melbourne –

.

.

Now this is the one and only homeless type person we saw in all our time in Singapore-

.

.

City –

.

.

.

A slower form of transport –

.

.

These electric scooters look fab and are really common –

.

.

River transport –

.

.

Now this is a sign at the local barbers –

.

.

Translated this means a men’s hair cut is £40.00, a shave is £29.00 and you can get both for a bargain £57.50!!!!!!

.

So true –

.

.

Now we’ve just popped into the Emirates departure lounge –

.

.

.

.

On board –

.

.

.

We just about coped!!!!

.

.

1st January 2019

Off to –

.

Cottontop Tamarin

.

.

And a warthog –

.

.

Elephant feeding –

.

.

Black and white ruffed lemur

.

.

Baby baboon going nowhere –

.

.

Bornean Orangutan plucking something from the water –

.

.

Being watched by a juvenile –

.

.

Oh. Hello –

.

.

Me in the morning –

.

.

.

Export Guinness

.

.

And this is the amount of crime in the area we are in for 2018 –

.

31st December 2018

Off to look at some of the city. Colonial architecture all around –

.

China town –

.

.

.

Michelin Star restaurant –

.

.

Apartment blocks trying to be very green –

.

.

And then it started to rain. A real thunderstorm lasting about 2 hours –

.

.

We then just got into the Gardens at the Bay just in time –

.

Flower dome on the right and the Cloud Forest on the left. Each are superbly built structures enclosing controlled environments.

.

.

We loved the South Africa area –

.

.

King Protea –

.

.

And a giraffe –

.

.

These tin people are quite intriguing –

.

.

Now into the Cloud Forest with its ceiling to floor waterfall –

.

.

Steam rising from one of the displays –

.

.

This next garden is created in LEGO (except for the boats) –

.

.

.

And oh my goodness it’s still pouring outside over the boat –

.

.

Then you descend down the pathway –

.

.

To the enchanted garden –

.

.

And an eagle’s head fashioned out of a root –

.

.

Out for diner before the bells –

.

.

Happy New Year to you all –

.

.

.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE FOR 2019 xx🐾

Sunday 30th December 2018

First real look at Singapore. The green clean city of the world.

.

.

Hand clearing the river of fallen leaves

.

.

The double helix pedestrian bridge with the skyline

.

.

Marina Sands Hotel with the boat in the sky

.

.

And off to –

.

.

Mr Hornbill in all his glory –

.

.

And this magnificent palm –

.

.

A Monitor lizard just swimming in the lake –

.

.

Then we went on to see the orchids which were amazing-

.

.

And down to the Swan Lake –

.

.

Now off to The Singapore Flyer for a view over the city –

.

.

Gardens at the bay all under glass-

.

.

Aerial view of the pits for the Singapore Grand Prix –

.

.

Skyline –

.

.

Looking down the Flyer –

.

.

And here’s the boat close up –

.

.

.

Sunday 11th February 2018

Last round –

.

Hot and sunny. Little perturbed to find part of the perimeter wall had fallen down and the guard was fast asleep under a tree!!! –

.

The fairways have dried up a lot since we arrived –

.

So have the water features –

.

All packed and ready to go –

.

Bye everyone. Hope you’ve enjoyed our travels.

Saturday 10th February 2018

Last full day. Had a bit of rain last night which was lovely for all the gardens –

.

Played the usual 9 holes and then had a wonder around the estate. Nice house –

.

I was fascinated with the thatching on this property –

.

It must help keep the inside lovely and cool.

This was the mess last nights storm swept onto the beach –

.

A final reminder of what our property was like –

.

And the view. (This photo was taken a couple of days ago and shows the pristine sands before the storm) Just shows you how much rubbish there is in the sea.

Friday 9th February 2018

Had the usual 9holes this morning and then went back to Vergelegen Estate for lunch –

.

And very nice it was (shared) –

.

Some people preferred an up market picnic in the woods –

.

Had a wonder through the grounds –

.

.

Some nice sculptures –

.

This marquee must have housed quite a wedding –

.

We reckoned these bamboo canes are about 50 feet tall –

.

Beautiful Agapanthus –

.

Cheeky Dusky African Flycatcher –

.

Thursday 8th February 2018

Had a walk around our estate this morning and spotted these –

.

They either like fishing or it’s their surname.

Off for last round of 18 holes –

.

That’s it for today. I couldn’t find anything else of interest to photograph. Gordon and his golf were no jelling and it was a distraction!!!

Wednesday 7th February 2018

The mercury rose to 33C today. I think we’re in for a shock when we get home!!!

Had a stroll along the shore this morning and found out where they get the sand for the bunkers –

.

As we drove off to Cape Town I decided to take a few more photographs from the car to show the things you can buy along the roadside –

Fence panels and a plastic sheep –

.

Assorted, and very probably very dirty, foam beanbag type seats –

.

Wicker chairs –

.

Drawer sets –

.

Now I’m not sure what these are – some sort of sling cut out of old tyres –

.

And finally some fresh honey – though I don’t think we’ve seen a bee all the time we’ve been here –

.

All a sort of outdoor version of Range.

Advert for a garage –

.

Here’s what you do with your used Nespresso tops –

.

Just thought the water reflecting in the side of this boat looked so relaxing –

.

Lunch was delicious –

.

A couple of bright rhinos –

.

Then off to Kirstenbosch to cool down a little –

.

And say Hello to Tommy –

.

Home past the shantytown –

.

To a nice view down the coast –

.

It’s another of those 🏌️ days tomorrow so there will not be a lot to report.

xx🐾
