Monday 20th January 2020.

A day into Cape Town to firstly visit the Aquarium which is stunning. The size of some of the displays is awesome –

These are the height of 2 storeys –

The fish look so happy and content swimming around. Don’t feel as if some of theses are too happy keeping this shark company –

This is a frog fish – the thing on the left –

Here’s a few of the other exhibits –

The rare Knysna seahorses –

This is a whale skeleton mad out of plastic and plastic bottles reclaimed from the sea –

Rockhopper penguin –

Sunday 19th September 2020.

What a difference a day makes. There were overnight storms with trees down and power outages – though we were ok. We had golf booked at Boschenmeer and dutifully went. It rained, was cold and I gave up after 13 holes due to depression. Gordon completed the course.

Sheltering from the elements.
Wet and cold.
Some of the trees damages. The course was littered with branches and leaves.

Friday 17th January 2020

It’s one of those days –

Bellville Golf Club.

Very windy but a lovely sunny day out –

View from the 7th tea box. We virtually had the course to ourselves.
A very unusual tea box marker. Looks quite sinister.

Thursday 16th January 2020.

Somebody had a birthday –

Lucky me!!!!

Then we went to a couple of bird reserves along the coast. 1st to False Bay Nature reserve Rondevlei – which cost 75p to enter 2 years ago and is now FREE – then to Zekoevlei Nature reserve. So a series of bird photos coming up –

A rather cross looking spoonbill.
A very elegant great egret.
Mr Snipe.
Beautiful flamingos.
Black wing stilt.
Avocets and terns.

Tuesday 14th January and Wednesday 15th January 2020.

Drove to just south of Stellenbosch to our home for the next 4 weeks –

Home to a winery and olive groves for their own oils and balsamic vinegar and also a stud farm.

Guarded by 2 of these –

And a group of these noisy geese –

The rear of our villa –

And then the front looking out onto the lawns –

And here’s our pool –

Lovely, warm and clean. We have to share it with a couple of other villas!!

The stud horses look lovely with their foals –

The vines are looking very good against the backdrop of the mountains –

The grapes are producing a great crop this year –

And our local lake with a view of the breakfast room if wanted –

South Africa 12th January 2020

The views from the KLM flight through triple glaze windows was stunning of the Alps.

So beautiful with all the virgin snow.

The views of the Sahara Desert were incredible. We must have flown over it for nearly 2 hours –

Some of the sand dunes are majestic –

Then dotted about are little isolate settlements –

The sunset was amazing above the clouds –
