Wednesday 13th September 2017

Started the day by going to a salt pan for a spot of bird watching. There was supposed to be a little ring plover but not to our eyes. Lovely group of yellow billed ducks –

.

And the heron on its nest –

.

We then journeyed back into Hermanus just in time. All these photos are taken from the shore so it shows how close the whales were –

.

Nearly got it breaching –

.

They are huge –

.

Ever looked down a Southern Right’s mouth before? –

.

Then there were two –

.

Some flippers –

.

It’s a big blow –

.

Another whale tail upside down –

.

These are all photos of the Southern Right whale which visit between June and November –

.

A group of Cape Dassies were also enjoying the sun and the whales –

.

.

It’s been a whale of a day. (Been waiting to type that!!!!!)

Tuesday 12th September 2017

Started the day by taking a walk along the cliff path in the hope of seeing some whales. The sea was rather lively –

.

.

We walked into town and met the Whale Crier based on our town criers. He uses a kelp horn and codes to let you know which bay the whales are in. Rather quiet today!!!! But we did see one whale far in the distance. No photo unfortunately –

.

A few of the fishing boats in the old harbour –

.

Then we went off to –

.

.

The most beautiful course I have ever played. Nobody in front or behind us. Millionaires golf –

.

The number of green staff was amazing. 7 working on this green alone –

.

Over seen by a jolly Cape Canary –

.

Each hole had a little bit advice . Not that this made the slightest bit of difference!!!! –

Monday 11th September 2017

This was a picture of a moth or flying insect outside our apartment on the wall this morning laying loads of eggs –

.

.

Moving day. Off to Hermanus via the Somerset West shopping mall which is huge. A little like this Le Creuset cooking pot which needed two hands just to lift the lid!!!!! –

.

And a rather mad dog photograph advertising dog food –

.

Stopped at –

.

Enroute  to Hermanus for a little –

.

And a very charming view –

.

This is a picture of Mrs Weaver bird looking out of her nest outside our apartment door –

.

Went for a walk along the cliff tops to see if we could see any whales but drew a blank. Let’s hope for better luck tomorrow.
